Dragons After Dismissal

Dragons After Dismissal is a FREE 33-week after school program that enrolls students in kindergarten through 5th grade and is held Mondays through Thursdays from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.* this after school program is run through the Baltimore Curriculum Project’s 21st Century Community Learning Center at Govans Elementary.

We are proud partners with Let’s Go Boys and Girls, who support our school with a high-quality, hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) curriculum. Our after school program has dedicated staff who engage students in stimulating, hands-on STEM activities and a variety of enrichment classes including drama, cooking, art, dance, music and more. It has been proven to support learning by helping students meet state and local academic achievement standards in mathematics and science.

We also provide homework help, a healthy snack and dinner, and services to support parental involvement.

“The Dragons After Dismissal Program at Govans Elementary School has been a critical component in addressing student wholeness as it aligns with Baltimore City Public Schools’s Blueprint for Success. Not only has the after school program provided an engaging, safe and supportive environment to meet the many needs of our students, but it has offered a wide variety of enrichment activities that have piqued students’ interests and promoted their curiosity.  Students’ involvement in art, theater, athletics, music, debate, student government, radio production, cooking, character education and STEM activities have awarded our children with fun and engaging experiences that have allowed them to make connections to resources in the community and to support and develop their individual lives as residents of Baltimore City.  We feel extremely fortunate to be able to provide such a program to our Govans children.”
