After leaving Govans, our 5th-grade students embark on an exciting journey as they transition to middle school. This is just the beginning of their educational and professional paths, leading them to graduate from high school and pursue various opportunities in the workforce or continue their education in college.

Middle School Destinations

Govans’ fifth graders continue their educational journeys at a wide range of middle school programs across Baltimore City, including the competitive Advanced Academic Program and the Ingenuity Project, as well as charter, traditional, and private schools that reflect their individual strengths, interests, and future goals.

Class of 2026: Where They’re Headed

  • Advanced Academic placements include Cross Country, Roland Park, Mt. Royal, and Waverly.
  • Ingenuity Project at Roland Park
  • The SEED School of Maryland
  • Charter school placements include Baltimore Design School, Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women, Lillie May Carroll Jackson Charter School, The Crossroads School, and Tunbridge Public Charter School.
  • Traditional public school placements include Leith Walk, Rosemont, Walter P Carter, Waverly, and Woodhome.
  • Parochial Schools placement includes Cardinal Shehan School, Mother Seton Academy, and St. Francis of Assisi School.
  • Private schools’ placements include Loyola Blakefield, The Bryn Mawr School, and St. Paul’s School.

Several members of the Class of 2026 were accepted into the Baltimore Educational Scholarship Trust (B.E.S.T.), a highly regarded program that helps academically talented Baltimore students gain access to independent school opportunities while providing ongoing academic, leadership, and college-readiness support. Acceptance into B.E.S.T. is a significant achievement and reflects these students’ hard work, determination, and academic promise.

Together, these placements showcase the many pathways available to Govans graduates and highlight the strong foundation they have built during their time at Govans.

As our fifth graders take the next step in their educational journey, we celebrate the hard work, growth, and accomplishments that have brought them to this milestone.
